Students (11th grade and up) are introduced to the fundamentals of education by serving as peer leaders and participating in training to help them better learn how to help their peers. 12th-grade students can take Child Growth and Development at Ventura College. This course examines the major physical, cognitive, social, and emotional developmental milestones for children from conception through adolescence. There is an emphasis on interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors. Students will observe children, evaluate individual differences, and analyze characteristics of development at various stages according to developmental theories.
